Vintage 1970's Halston Coral Ultrasuede Dress

Halston had a way of continuing the spirit of Madeleine Vionnet without realizing what he was doing. And while his brilliant contemporaries, like Gernreich, may have laughed at his totally minimalist style, women went ga-ga for it.  Intensely sexy and rich, Halston made something for everyone and never scoffed at a woman's imperfections. But he is most associated with Ultrasuede, which store owners could not get enough of in the 70s - it FLEW out of the door. You can wash it in the machine, it feels like paper-thin real suede and it comes in colors that would make a real cow blush. This coral (a better word is shrimp) floor-length wrap dress fastens at the waist and is collarless, with a matching twice-around sash belt that widens to an inverted triangle over the tummy. Inseam pockets at both hips, even Halston purists who try to stay away from Ultrasuede (yes, they exist), will find the simplicity and the length hard to resist on this one. Bust measures up to 38", shoulder to shoulder 15.5", outer sleeve 23", waist 24" to 29" and length 57". Excellent condition, no issues. Ready to wear.
