  • Condition: So fragile the silk is disintegrating and there are lots of damaged areas. Buttons are in very good shape however.

    Description

    This dress is sort of a mess.  It has been stored away for so many years.  The silk trim appliqués are disintegrating, and some of the lace is torn.  It is all hand sewn, with stays in the bodice, but probably not ever wearable again.  The covered buttons seem to be in very good condition, and there are some interesting appliqués on the skirt, so parts of it could be used.  There is a lot of it.  It dates to about 1870-80.
